Davis Vision

A big THANK YOU to Davis Vision for their donation to UTSS! Davis Vision contributed 300 prescription glasses frames which will be used as part of the UTSS project to provide vision correction for some of the people with albinism in Tanzania . At this time, the majority of Tanzanian children with albinism cannot even see the chalkboards in their classrooms. Once these frames are fitted with suitable prescription lenses, we hope that they will help to remove at least some of the fear felt by vision-impaired children about going to school. Under The Same Sun would like to thank everyone at Coolibar for the donation of hundreds of pieces of sun-protective clothing!! Your gift of sun-hats specifically destined for children with albinism in two Tanzanian schools takes our collective breath away….and it doesn’t end there!!! The many other pieces of clothing for children and adults with albinism will all be distributed and will help to protect these people who have no melanin in their skin to shield them from the harsh African sun. Erin Shaw

A special THANK YOU from Under The Same Sun to Erin Shaw of Pound Ridge, New York! After learning about the plight of Tanzanians with albinism on ABC’s 20/20, Erin rolled up her sleeves and got to work!! She organized a shopping event at Vineyard Vines in Westport, Connecticut to raise money for Under The Same Sun’s work in Tanzania. Furthermore, Erin has been tirelessly canvassing her friends and family to help out however they can. Erin, thanks for really helping to make a difference – not just by raising funds, but by spreading the word and making people aware of the murders going on in Tanzania. We are YOUR fans Erin!!
