Progress, Perseverance, and Hope: 2024 Q4 Update

As we begin a new year, we reflect with gratitude and joy on the incredible strides made thanks to our incredible community of supporters. These updates from the last quarter of the year (October–December) highlight the transformative impact your support continues to have in the lives of people with albinism. Together, we’ve witnessed lives transformed and barriers shattered.

Breaking barriers, building brighter futures

This quarter, we celebrated the extraordinary achievements of 13 university graduates. Each one overcame unique challenges as a person with albinism—facing stigma, discrimination, and accessibility hurdles—to walk across the stage and claim their hard-earned degrees.

These graduates excelled in fields as diverse as law, biology, economics, human resources, and sociology. Their success does more than redefine their futures—it reshapes societal perceptions of people with albinism, proving they are just as capable as anyone else.

Their accomplishments stand as a testament to the power of education and community. Thanks to you, they’re not only breaking barriers but also building a future where people with albinism can thrive without limits. Join us in celebrating these trailblazers: Wilson, Mahamudu, Tatu, Tilla, Julian, Makono, Rajuu, Ndebile, Hassan, Jenipher, Amina, Amica, and Semeni!

Empowering the next generation

In primary and secondary schools, we’ve been equipping young students with critical life skills. From workshops on financial literacy and STI awareness to sessions on confidence and dignity, we’re ensuring they’re ready to succeed inside and outside the classroom.

At Lake View Primary School, 15 students shared how training on puberty, hygiene, and keys to success has already begun changing their lives. And for secondary grantees, a two-day training for 30 students opened doors to new insights about adulthood and personal growth.

Health and wellness: a priority

We remain committed to keeping our grantees healthy and confident. In November, 99 students attended a skin clinic, where they received vital skincare education and tools to protect themselves from the sun. Doctors from Standing Voice ensured personalized care for every student, and those needing additional treatment received follow-up support.

Moments of joy and togetherness

Our grantees experienced the magic of community this Christmas. Safety concerns during the election season meant many stayed with us over the holiday period, but that didn’t stop the festivities! From music and games to heartfelt gifts, we made sure every child felt cherished and celebrated, and safe.

During this time, we organized outings for 95 students who stayed with us. These fun-filled trips, featuring games, swimming, and delicious meals, helped refresh their spirits as they prepared for a new academic year.

Looking ahead

With your support, we’re excited to build on these successes in 2025. Together, we’re not only meeting immediate needs but also empowering the next generation of leaders to challenge stigma and inspire change.

Thank you for believing in our mission and standing with people with albinism. Your generosity is creating opportunities, changing narratives, and shaping brighter futures.
